North Korea has carried out its sixth hydrogen nuclear test successfully. This test is claimed to be ten times stronger than the previous nuclear test done in September 2016 by North Korea. An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 was felt in that area at the time of test.
US President Donald Trump at the time said ‘All options were on the table’ and this test contributed to be a strong reply to the statement. The test was carried out at such times when BRICS meet was held. China, Russia, and other countries condemned this test by North Korea. South Korea would work with the security council and vowed to maintain a security alliance with the US.
The explosion appeared to produce a yield in excess of 100 kilotons. The explosion made in 1945 on Hiroshima and Nagasaki yielded 14 kilotons and 21 kilotons respectively leaving more than 200000 people dead and many are disabled.
The US defense secretary warned North Korea “We made clear that we have the ability to defend ourselves and our allies, South Korea and Japan, from any attack. And our commitment to the allies is ironclad: any threat to the United States or its territories, including Guam, or our allies will be met with a massive military response, a response both effective and overwhelming”. US President Donald Trump has said the US is considering stopping all trade with any country that does business with North Korea.
