Like scams- A Real threat
Liking a particular page & marketing it a common strategy for any business nowadays.
Businesses won’t achieve results and could end up doing less business on Facebook if the people they’re connected to aren’t real. Spammers seek to make money off of Page owners with promises of certain number of likes for a fee, but they rarely deliver ‘likes’ that are of any value, It requires a strong incentive to aggressively get rid of fake likes because businesses and people who use our platform want real connections and results, not fakes.
Registration, friending, liking and messaging are the various activity points for interaction to restrict & flag the suspicious activity.
Facebook is getting ready to take on spammers and is warning its members not to fall for fake ‘like’ scams.
As per the Facebook team, they write rules and use machine learning to catch suspicious behavior that sticks out. “It is essential to counter and prevent when fraudulent activity is identified. The task is completed by blocking accounts and removing fake likes all at once. As the tools are becoming more sophisticated, it is shared among the community in hopes of helping other companies to combat similar problems. Block the spam no matter where it spreads & how it spreads.
The site also sets limits on likes per account. That means, if like activity seems unnatural, Facebook makes sure the likes are legitimate, possibly by asking for additional verification.
